How long is the recovery time?
It depends on the type of surgery and the patient. Generally 10 days is the estimate. If you work at a job where you do heavy lifting or standing on your feet you might need to take additional time off from work.

How much will I bruise or swell?
It depends on the type of surgery and the individual. Generally bruising and swelling goes down within the first two weeks after surgery and continues from then out. If you bump your leg and you bruise very easily than you will probably bruise very easily during surgery. Individuals that do not bruise and swell easily are less likely to after surgery.

What is the most common type surgery that your office performs?
We do a large number of breast surgeries, which include breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast reconstruction.

Yes, we have a $75 consultation fee.

Do you get a discount if you have more than one surgery done at a time?
Yes, the physician gives you a 20% discount, DCH gives you a 20% discount, and Anesthesia gives you a 30% discount.

Are there any medications I should stop taking before surgery?
Never stop taking any medications prescribed by a physician unless that physician gives you the okay to stop. In certain cases patients that are on blood thinners may be asked to contact their cardiologist or prescribing doctor to see if it is okay for them to stop taking their medication for a short period of time.

Do I have to wait a certain period of time to have breast reconstruction surgery after having a masectomey?
No, we can do immediate reconstruction, that is the general surgeon will operate and then the plastic surgeon will operate during the same surgery.

Do I have to wait to have reconstructive surgery after having chemo or radiation?
Generally we like for you to wait about 6 weeks after you have completed all your chemo and radiation treatments.

Is the doctor accredited to do these surgeries, is the hospital accredited, and is the anesthesiologist certified?
All of our physician are Board Certified Plastic Surgeons, DCH Same Day Surgery is accredited by the JACHO, which credentials all hospitals and the Anesthesiologist are all Board Certified Physicians as well.

When do I have to pay for my surgery?
Payment is due, at least 10 working days prior to the day of surgery. You can pay for your surgery with a personal check, credit card, cashier's check or cash. DCH will also accept the same payment options previously listed. Anesthesia has to be paid by personal check or cashier's check.
