Abdominoplasty
No matter how much a person exercises, the fat that makes up the bulge around your stomach may be stubborn and unrelenting. Because Dr. Robert Zubowski realizes the struggle many people endure to tone this difficult area, he is proud to offer abdominoplasty at his Paramus practice. Also known as a tummy tuck, abdominoplasties are one of the most commonly requested procedures at The Center. Abdominoplasty is a highly effective procedure used to increase the flatness and firmness of the abdominal region. It is particularly well-suited for patients who are in good physical shape but are still troubled by fat deposits and excess skin in the abdominal region. Tummy tucks are also commonly performed at our office for older patients, women who have been pregnant, and patients who have lost a substantial amount of weight but are still burdened by extra skin in the stomach area.
The Abdominoplasty Procedure
When a patient undergoes abdominoplasty, Dr. Zubowski makes an initial horizontal incision in the lower portion of the abdomen. He then tightens the underlying muscles, removes any excess fat and skin, and pulls the skin taught over the affected area, using sutures to close the incision. To aid with the healing process, Dr. Zubowski carefully dresses the patient in a pressure garment, which must be worn for about three weeks after the procedure.
Sometimes, only the lower abdomen needs tightening, and in such cases, Dr. Zubowski may opt to perform a partial tummy tuck. Many tummy tuck patients also opt for concurrent liposuction of the midsection, hips, or thighs to give the appearance of all-over slimming.
