An abdominoplasty reduces skin excess and loose skin, and is designed to retighten your figure for a more firm appearance in this difficult area.
Some patients are better candidates than others but people that have lost weight (mothers, for example) or those that have an area that simply won’t go down despite weight loss are ideal for this procedure. The incision spans along the front of your low waistline from hip to hip in order to be hidden in low-rise clothing. The lower abdominal tissue is removed and the remaining areas are redistributed. The rectus muscles (‘six-pack’ muscles) are tightened bringing in your waistline to contour the appearance of your hips. In men, this operation is varied to preserve a masculine shape.
We often combine a tummy tuck with liposuction to improve desirable contours and curves that you most want to reveal.
My practice uses highly specialized anesthesiologists within our surgery center for the safest possible conditions during your operation. The recovery phase varies significantly from patient to patient for this surgery. It can last from two weeks to a few months and a gradual return to normal daily activities is recommended.
