About Dr. Fata

Dr. Joseph Fata's extensive training and years of experience in both cosmetic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery, combined with his emphasis on personalized care, have made him one of the region's most highly respected plastic surgeons. In fact, Dr. Fata is the only surgeon in the Indianapolis area board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Fata earned his M.D. from the State University of New York at Syracuse where he completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology (Ears, Nose, & Throat)-Head and Neck Surgery. He went on to complete a residency in Plastic Surgery at the Oregon Health Science University followed by a one-year fellowship at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. While at Washington University, he gained additional experience in the most advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of facial disorders caused by birth defects and aging.

Dr. Fata is the medical director of the St. Vincent Cleft Lip and Craniofacial Clinic, a statewide referral center for children and adults with facial deformities. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Community Hospitals of Indianapolis and he is a member of the Medical Executive Committee at the Healthsouth Surgery Center. Dr. Fata has been a national and international guest lecturer on a variety of topics in plastic surgery.

Dr. Fata's practice encompasses the full spectrum of plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery and he has performed thousands of procedures. He has a special interest in facial cosmetic surgery and body contouring, especially breast enlargement (augmentation), liposuction, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), facelift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), and surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty). He is on the medical staff at St. Vincent Hospital, Clarion Health (Methodist, Indiana, and Riley Hospitals) and Community Hospitals of Indianapolis. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association and the Indiana Medical Society.

When he is not working, Dr. Fata enjoys an active family life and keeps busy coaching his daughters in basketball and working on his tennis game.
