Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the tummy and tightens abdominal muscles. Liposuction is the removal of fat through suctioning or vacuuming. Lipoabdominoplasty combines these two procedures for the newest, most effective way of treating hard-to-remove belly fat. The doctor uses liposuction first to remove excess fat from the belly, and then proceeds with a traditional tummy tuck. This practice means a better resulting contour for the tummy tuck, as the skin and tissues are easier to work with after the fat has been removed. Not only will the tummy appear slimmer due to tucking and contouring, but the tummy will actually be thinner from the liposuction.

Candidates who elect this procedure are most often women who, after childbearing, have weak abdominal muscles and excess fat that does not seem to respond to diet or exercise. A tummy tuck is also common for men who wish to tighten muscles and remove fat from the middle and lower abdomen.
